Take a Walking Tour! :
The things I love about Ayden, North Carolina are its proximity to all of Greenville, North Carolina and Winterville, North Carolina‘s amenities but without the traffic and congestion, the splashpad and parks, Ayden Collard Festival, the Christmas Parade, the conveniences of local supermarkets, banks, etc., nationally acclaimed barbeque, bakeries and even a local gym.
The area is wonderful because we are a short drive to historic gems like New Bern, Little Washington and the many trails, campsites, and the sandy shores of Goose Creek State Park. Ayden Arts & Recreation is also close to Kinston, North Carolina and its up-and-coming restaurant and entertainment scenes. There are various tap rooms and local breweries to quench your thirsts.
Our neighborhood boasts many unique and charming homes which make for a lovely stroll. We are a stone’s throw from a park with tennis courts and children’s playground equipment and a two minute drive to the town’s water park.
We love to eat at Bum’s Restaurant and Catering , Skylight Inn BBQ, and being able to get fresh baked bread from the local Mexican bakery or ordering special occasion items from Gwendy’s Goodies. Cindirene’s is a local favorite and a great place where “everyone knows your name.”
Ayden offers many stores of convenience like Food Lion, Walgreens and Piggly Wiggly. There is a local apothecary that serves up a great breakfast. There are various antique shops to choose from such as Happy’s Emporium and more than one salon in the downtown.
When we bought the property we were drawn to the charming exterior of the home, the hardwood floors, high ceilings and apparent attention to detail throughout. We loved the open layout of the kitchen, the large rooms, the welcoming and bright mudroom/laundry room in the rear, the large private deck and pergola which invite outdoor entertainment and dining, the deeply set front porch and back yard with mature landscaping. We are close to the major Trauma I hospital for the area and East Carolina University, as well as various community colleges. There is also an airport nearby.
We love that a majority of the year can be spent outdoors.
The area is great if you are interested in outdoor activities, family friendly festivities, antiquing and a focus on quiet living.
