Arghhh! Calling all pirates! Greenville, N.C. is hosting its 7th annual PirateFest event, Friday, April 12th, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 13th, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
PirateFest is a large outdoor festival where people of all ages gather for fun, food and entertainment to celebrate the history of all pirates, including the infamous Blackbeard and East Carolina University’s own pirates.
The festival will be located on Evans between 5th and 1st Street and on the Town Common by the river. Festivities include arts and crafts for sale, live entertainment, a parade of pirates, costume contest, an inflatable pirate ship, and other activities. Whether you are interested in participating as a vendor, sponsor or for your own amusement, the festival offers many ways for all ages to join in celebrating Greenville’s pirate pride!
This year, PirateFest is aiming to break the Guinness World Record, Blackbeard’s Challenge. The challenge is to have the most people dressed as a pirate in a single venue. Where better to try to break this record than in the heart of Pirate Nation!?
PirateFest will attempt to break the record on Saturday, April 13th at 11 a.m. Specific guidelines for pirate costumes are provided and all participants must remain in one venue for a minimum of 10 minutes.
